Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026
Simple Arrows is built around a simple promise: your training data is yours. It lives on your device and in your own iCloud — never on our servers.
Your training data stays yours
Every session, end, arrow, event, reflection, gear profile, and sight mark you record in Simple Arrows is stored on your device. We do not have a server that receives or stores your archery data, we cannot see it, and we never sell or share it. Any insights, trends, and match inference are computed on your device.
iCloud sync
So your training history follows you between your own devices, Simple Arrows syncs through Apple's iCloud, into the private database of your personal Apple Account. We are not in that path: we have no server involved, no access to your iCloud data, and no ability to read it. Apple's own privacy policy and iCloud terms govern that storage.
- Sync is on by default. You can turn it off at any time in Profile → Data → iCloud Sync. Because the app decides how to open your data store when it launches, the change takes effect the next time you open Simple Arrows.
- With sync off, your data stays on that device alone.
- Deleting your data from within the app removes it from iCloud and from every device signed in to your account. Deleting the app removes the copy stored on that device.
If you export your data (for example, as a CSV), that file goes wherever you choose to send it. That is under your control, not ours.
Purchases
Simple Arrows is free, and the entire functional app stays free. If you choose to become a Supporter, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store — we never see or receive your payment details, and we do not operate an account system or a purchase server. To unlock cosmetics, the app asks Apple on your device whether a purchase exists.
If you have turned analytics on, we record an anonymous signal that a purchase or a restore happened. That signal carries no amount, no receipt, and nothing identifying — only the fact of the event.
Anonymous, opt-in analytics
To help us decide what to build next, Simple Arrows can collect anonymous, aggregate usage analytics — but only if you turn them on.
- Analytics are off by default. On first launch we ask you once, and you can change your answer at any time in Profile → Privacy → Share Anonymous Analytics. While the setting is off, nothing is sent.
- When enabled, we collect anonymous product-interaction signals only — broad, non-identifying measurements of how the app is used, grouped into the categories below.
- We do not collect your name, email address, location, scores, notes, photos, or any content you enter.
- We do not use an advertising identifier, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
- The signals are aggregate and are not used to build a profile of you or to identify you.
What we measure, in detail
Every signal is anonymous and falls into one of these categories:
- Scoring activity — when a scoring session is started, finished, or abandoned; the type of target face used; roughly how long scoring lasted; and how many ends and arrows were shot (in broad ranges, never tied to you).
- Scoring method — whether you score on the target face, the score sheet, or with the score-sheet swipe gesture.
- Match inference — whether the automatically detected round format was accepted or corrected, and how confident that detection was.
- Insights use — when Insights is opened, which detail view you look at (trend, volume, or session patterns), and when you filter by setup.
- Personalization & equipment — whether session details were customized; when a sight mark is added; when a timeline entry is logged (only its category — form, gear, body, or reflection — never its text); and which optional “Un-Simple” features you turn on or off.
- Data actions — when you export or share a session or your timeline, and when you import data (a count of files only).
- Supporting the app — when the support sheet is opened (and which screen it was opened from), and when a Supporter purchase or restore completes. Never an amount, a receipt, or anything identifying.
These are the categories of what we measure, described this way so the policy stays accurate as the app evolves. We will not collect personal or identifying information in any category.
This analytics processing is provided by TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service that is designed not to collect personal data. Signals are transmitted anonymously; TelemetryDeck acts as our data processor for this aggregate usage information. You can read about their privacy practices at telemetrydeck.com.
Diagnostics
If you choose to share crash and performance diagnostics with developers through Apple's standard system settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized diagnostic reports. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your device settings, and is separate from the analytics described above.
Children's privacy
Simple Arrows is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the app collects no personal information at all, this poses no special risk.
Your choices
- Turn analytics on or off anytime in Profile → Privacy.
- Turn iCloud Sync on or off anytime in Profile → Data.
- Export or delete your data anytime from within the app. Deleting your data in the app erases it from iCloud and from every device signed in to your account; deleting the app removes only the copy stored on that device.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Simple Arrows handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
